Memories of Donna (Baines) Thomson

I am very glad that we found you. I'll try to give you a bit of background to catch you up on the last 40 or so years. The class [of 1960] that was one year behind you, Bill Warrington, Muriel Haakonson and so on held a reunion 2 years celebrating their 39th . Because it was such a success they decided to try for a bigger venture this summer and include more people. They asked for my help and advice and hence I have become their staff advisor after all these years. I think your idea about a web site is good. we didn't include e-mail addresses because we wanted to have a firm idea of who will be coming.

I arrived in the fall of 1957 at the same time as Mr. Penman. Grade 9 was my home room and I'm not sure what all I taught your class. I'm pretty sure Grade 11 and 12 were in the Lab. I know I would have taught 11 and 12 French, possibly Social Studies and maybe Lit but not Comp. I think Mr. Allin was your Homeroom teacher but Muriel has the registers so would know that for sure. We haven't been able to find James Appleby.

I have also been wondering about your life's work, family, wife, branch of engineering and so on.
I stayed on staff at Westcliffe for 4 years, married an older brother of David Thomson's, Don, from Alsask and have made my life here. We have 3 married children and 6 grand kids. Rather than teach my own kids and eventually changed careers some what and finished my degree in music and have taught piano and so on for the last 40 years.

We have an Alsask Book Club and you can find us on the web at www.canadianbookclubs.com/sk/alsask.html
